The Big Easy- New Orleans

We are on the corner of Market Street near the French Market...

A view down the street

We just love the colors of the buildings

And the trees on the Parade route are covered with colorful Bead Necklaces

Looks like everyone had a good time throwing their beads everywhere, trees, bushes, fences...

Just another beautiful old home.

The streets of New Orleans are still in very bad shape because of the water damage from Katrina, 6 years ago, so much still to be done.

The French Market, what a fun place to visit, lots of trinkets to buy and yummy food.

I don't remember the name of this sandwich, but it was delicious (a Maloofa?) spanish chorice, cheese, and a topping of green olives, mushrooms, celery, carrots, onions, capers, oh it was so good!!

Got a good wave from this person when we tooted the horn!

But then we took a ride thru the 9th Ward, such a unbelieveable place, it is still a disaster zone after all this time, house after house, people living there trying to put their lives back in some order.

There is hope, they have buldozed some areas and are rebuilding new neighborhoods.

I think this is the development that Brad Pitt is helping fund.

It was hard taking pictures, I just cannot imagine, living thru such a tragedy!

Hopefully someday there will be a future for all the 9th ward again.
