GREMLIN ON THE ROAD: 2010

Loretta Lynn one of my favorite people, "Coal miners daughter" movie of her life, I think everyone should see it.... It shows how with hard work and the love of another person, you can achieve your dreams.

A beautiful estate for sure.

She actually has a campground also, and it was open, atleast the road was open we were thinking of staying there, but no one was there. This Cafe was in the campground but it was closed and there was no notice stating how to register...so we left and stayed elsewhere for the night.

Their was what we thought might be a grist mill across from the Ranch.

This tree was near the ranch also, talk about living on the edge!

This was a large area, ranch, campground, stock car racing, restaurant too.
It was a very nice area, too bad we couldn't find anyone to get the scoop on the camping arrangements. Oh well maybe next year...

The name Graceland didn't come from Elvis. The home was built and given to a Dr. Moore by his Aunt. His aunts name was Grace, and so he named this beautiful home Graceland. Elvis liked the name so he kept it.

Graceland was built in 1939, and Elvis purchased it in 1957 for a mere $100,000.00. The size of the home is a modest 17,000 sq. feet.

I loved the posters of Elvis, he was so handsome.

Notice the gate as you enter the property, you can only visit the grounds on a tour bus, you purchase a ticket for an available time, we waited over 1 hr. for our turn, and we were there early in the morning....

While I was waiting to enter I looked over the front door and saw the "P", and this is what it looks like from the inside looking out.

This picture of Elvis and his parents is in the hallway outside the living room.

This is the staircase going to the "Private quarters". Elvis never came down to greet anyone unless he was fully dressed, and he never let anyone outside of his family go up to his private living quarters.

This is his parents bedroom on the first floor.

Across from the living room is the dining room, both rooms match.

This is the kitchen, I felt proud, I use to have a "Harvest Gold" refrigerator too!!

This room was for Elvis to catch up on the daily news events. Notice three TV sets, the rumor is that he heard that LBJ watched three tv sets at one time, so Elvis had to too. Is that ET??

This is Elvis Pool room, notice the walls, covered in Cloth, yes Cloth, check out the ceiling over the beautiful lights.

I call this the Tiki Room, very dark furnishings, fur couch, carved chairs.

And on the left wall there was an illusion of water fall...

We leave the main house now and this is a picture of the back of the house. We are going out to another building on the property.

This is where Elvis did his business affairs, this was his office. Check out the lamp on the right, suppose to be a half moon maybe??

This is a view of the horse pasture behind the house, very calming, I am sure Elvis and his family spent a lot of time out here.

Part of that out building was Elvis Office, and where all his awards, gold records and outfits were kept.

This Gold Record was for Hound Dog and Don't be Cruel 1950, remember them??

Priscilla and Elvis were very fit, no extra weight here.....

Elvis was a very generous person, there is a wall covered with copies of checks for $1,000.00 each for many, many organizations. I wonder if today this organization which runs this operation, is keeping with Elvis and being very generous to many worthly charities??

I remember seeing Elvis in these outfits, do you?

This was Elvis most treasured award, from the U.S. Jaycees. He carried it with him whenever he was on tour.

When you leave the back building you come out upon the pool area, nothing too outrageous here....Not like the stars of today.

Next to the pool area is where the graves of Elvis, and his twin Jessie, and his parents and his grandmother are buried.

He would have been 75 years old this past January. Hard to think of Elvis as old.

An eternal candle burns for him.

There are two more areas to visit, the airplanes Elvis used, and his collection of cars. We didn't visit either of those areas, we were really only interested in his home. If you go plan on 2 days to visit everything. Heartbreak Hotel is across the street, we didn't see that either....
