We are now leaving Guadalupe Mts. heading towards El Paso on the border of Mexico and Texas, they are separated by the Rio Grande River which at this time is mostly dry. Down to the low lands we go!

I always love the rest areas, situated with roof tops of some kind to provide shade while you have lunch.

As we get into the low lands you can see a white lake, looks like snow..
Actually called the Guadalupe Salt Lakes!

Salt was in important item, in 1877 they had the El Paso Salt Wars.

This sign gives a little of the history of the area and the El Paso Salt War.

This map show the road to the salt flats.

And just down the road, we come across a herd of Antelope, they are so curious about you as you are about them. I just love their markings..
